The SSSO has an excellent Resident Conductor and a high standard of performance, its classical symphonic repertoire is challenging, and its performances in the Sutherland Entertainment Centre - which has excellent acoustics - regularly attract attendances of 400 or more.

This is why the Orchestra attracts players mainly from the Sutherland district but also from areas like Sydney's North Shore, the Western Suburbs, the Illawarra and even the Shoalhaven.

Regular weekly rehearsals are 7.30 - 10pm each Monday night at the Sutherland Entertainment Centre. Extra rehearsals are held shortly before concerts.

The Orchestra often has vacancies for experienced players. Most of our vacancies are in the string section. Brass players are also often required, whilst there may be vacancies for woodwinds.
Are you an experienced player interested in joining our Orchestra? Then contact us, we'll be delighted to have you if we have any vacancy for your instrument.

Note that we are a community orchestra, not a professional orchestra.
